APTITUDE AND INTEREST MATCHING

HELPING STUDENTS FIND DIRECTION IN HARMONY WITH THEIR TEMPERAMENT

The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) has long been used as an instrument to discover the fundamental temperament of a person to help match them with appropriate career choices.

It is based on Carl Jung’s typology of personalities incorporating 4 dichotomies of innate preferences.

There are 16 possible combinations of the 4 dichotomous preferences resulting in 16 personality types, each lending themselves to prefer different types of careers.

Knowledge of one’s personality type can be a key indicator for choosing a fulfilling career path.

Integration of a student’s interests with his or her personality type is a very effective method for helping each student choose the type of career where they would be the most happy and productive.

Michael Oh, the head director, is a certified MBTI administrator.

Coupled with his education and experience as a psychologist, the director is uniquely qualified to use this instrument for helping students find their most satisfying potential career paths.
